It’s that time of the year again, Christmas is here! The thing about the holidays is that our routines can often fall apart and sometimes that means falling off the health and fitness bandwagon. Honestly, in all the chaos of Christmas and traveling, you’re going to be slightly out of sync, but it’s okay because spending time with your family and friends is what makes the holidays so special. So here are a few quick tips to help you stay fit through the holidays.

Be picky about your splurges

In December, most offices are filled with all sorts of sugary treats and to top it off, your neighbors are delivering fresh baked cookies to your home. Don’t get me wrong, every now and then, I like to indulge in these foods, but I make sure I save my indulgence for foods that I truly love and want. So before you reach for those chocolate truffles, or Christmas cookies, just ask yourself is this something I really want or are you just eating it because it’s there?

Be flexible with your schedule

If you sleep through your workout alarm, from staying up late with your holiday celebrations, it doesn’t mean you get to skip your workout all together! Try and squeeze in a quick 10-20 min home workout or a 10 min stretching routine – this will help keep you from getting stiff when you’re traveling or lounging around the house. Keep a positive mind and try and be as active as you can.

Load up on water

To avoid sugar headaches and adrenal fatigue, increase your daily water intake!  Drinking water will help your body cope with added sugars and carbs you indulged in. It’s like the water is helping your body flush the sugar out! For those of you who get lightheaded or a headache after you eat something sweet, drinking a glass of water can help ease those side effects, so drink up!
